How To Dry A Cell Phone After It Has Gotten Wet

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carol_Bullard]Carol Bullard Have you ever been out on a boat on a nice summer day? There is nothing like the warmth, the water, the movement on the water. Its great. Of course you have your cell phone with you. You carry it every where you go. But in the midst of having fun, mistakes can be made. The scenario goes like this. You jump off the boat into the water, and after playing around for awhile, you climb back in the boat. Bringing the wetness of the lake in with you, you plop down on the seat and realize you just sat on your cell phone. Too late, it just got soaked by your wet bathing suit. Guess what? It doesn't work. Now what do you do? The best thing to do is a very simple solution. Take the battery off the back. Leave it off, and let your cell phone dry out. I would let that side dry out first. After a day or so, I would turn it around and let the other side dry out. After about 2 days. Put the battery back in and see if it works. If not take the battery back out and wait another day. After another day of waiting, if this doesn't get it working, you may need to buy another battery. Still cheaper than a new cell phone. Most of the time, this simple procedure of letting it dry out will do the trick. In case you didn't know. Most cell phone companies have insurance you can buy, in case something like this happens. That ranges any where from $5.00 to $10.00 a month extra. Its a good idea, especially if you go out on the water alot. Zion Bible Institute, New Life Theological Seminary,

Marinades - Makin' n Breakin' Great Barbecue

By Chris McCarthy After selecting the best ingredients you can get your hands on, marinating your meat, seafood or poultry is the next important step anyone could take to guarantee a sumptuous barbecue dish. Marinades are seasoned liquids made from a variety of ingredients used to add flavor and tenderize meat, seafood or poultry by soaking them into it prior cooking. It's typically made of herbs, spices, sweeteners, which all contribute to the flavor, acids that help break down the meat, and oils to keep the meat from drying out while grilling. Using Marinades the Right Way Using marinades properly is the key for great-tasting barbecues. Having said that, here are a few marinating tips to remember. Acids and other tenderizers, though important in the marinating process may cause the meat to become overly soft. As such, don't leave your meat soaked for too long in marinades especially if it uses a lot of acids. A good timeframe is anywhere between 30 minutes to overnight, depending on the desired effect. Chicken, compared to pork or beef does not require lengthy soaking as it easily absorbs flavors. Refrigerate marinated meats, seafood or poultry and leftover marinades until you're ready to barbecue as a marinade, no matter how great it may be, has a short shelf life. If the meat, seafood or poultry is not entirely soaked, be sure to turn them several times to ensure that all sides are properly coated or covered with the marinade. Do not use aluminum pans for marinating or for storing leftover marinades. The acids on the marinade may react with the aluminum. Good examples of non-reactive containers include glass, ceramics, plastic ware and even re-sealable plastic bags. Lastly, and most importantly - NEVER REUSE YOUR MARINADE. Whatever it is that you marinated, there could be bacteria left on the marinade that can cause severe sickness. In addition, reusing marinades may also cause undesirable tastes and flavors. If you wish to use your marinade for basting while grilling, set aside a portion of the marinade before putting in the raw meat, seafood or poultry on the barbecue grill. But after that, throw away any left-over marinade. BBQ Tips from InsaneChicken for an Enjoyable Feast A genuine American favorite, the roots of barbecuing can be traced to the southern part of the country. Throughout the years, Americans have continued to take pleasure in barbecuing while enjoying the outdoors. But in the midst of it all certain barbecuing tips can help make it a more memorable and delectable experience for everyone. Aside from their mouth-watering array of bbq sauce products, InsanceChicken offers food safety barbecuing tips from the grill to the table. * Before cooking, be sure that meat to be barbecued is completely defrosted to facilitate even cooking. Be sure to cook food thoroughly to avoid bacterial contamination. As much as possible use a meat thermometer to ensure that food is cooked at the appropriate temperature. * Take off any visible fat in order to avoid burning and also prevent flare-ups due to oils. Avoid serving cooked food in the same container where the raw meats were placed in order to avoid contamination. * Planning an outdoor bbq party? Prevent bugs from landing on your bbq sauce and biting guests by lighting up some citrus candles. You can even buy some bamboo outdoor torches and light them using citronella oil to keep 'unwanted bugs' at bay. Lastly, do not forget that a barbecue party is supposed to be casual and fun! So what if some bbq sauce landed on the tablecloth? Chris McCarthy is the owner of InsaneChicken's Hot Sauce and BBQ Sauce Catalog. The Different Methods of Hair Removal

By Stefan Rockhaus Getting rid of unwanted hair from your body can sometimes be a very painful process. But knowing the right procedure can help you to avoid unwanted rashes and acne. Everybody has a different skin type, so knowing which hair removal method suits your skin is important. The different methods of hair removal are: Shaving: With the help of a razor, you can cut off the tip of the hair shaft which has grown out through the skin. You can get disposable razors, razors with disposable blades, and also electric razors. Men use these razors to shave their faces, and women use them to shave their underarms, legs, and bikini areas. Always use blades with safety guard wires to minimize nicks and cuts on your skin. Shaving is an inexpensive method. You can do it yourself; all you need is a razor and a shaving gel. But this method can cause burns, cuts, and bumps on your skin, and can be rather uncomfortable. Even ingrown hairs occur, as while shaving the hairs are cut below the level of the skin, so when the hair grows back, it grows within the surrounding tissue and not out of the follicle. The hair curls around and starts growing into the skin, and irritation, redness, and swelling can occur at the hair follicle. Plucking: With the help of tweezers, you can pull the hair out from its root. You have to stretch the skin tightly, grip the hair close to the base, and then pull it out. Plucking will last for about 3 to 5 weeks. Though this is time consuming, it is inexpensive, as you do not have to go anywhere to get it done. It can be painful, and you may notice temporary red bumps, as the hair follicle gets swollen and irritated. Depilatories: Depilatories are hair removal creams or liquids. This is an easy method, as depilatories can remove hair from the skin's surface. They work by reacting with the protein structure of the hair, so the hair dissolves and can be washed or wiped away. It can last up to 2 weeks. They are easily available and are inexpensive. You can use it on your legs, underarms, and bikini areas. It has a bad odor though, and some people can even have an allergic reaction to it, which may cause rashes or inflammation. People with sensitive skin should be careful. Waxing: In this method, a sticky wax is spread on your skin, and then a cloth strip is applied over the wax and quickly pulled off, taking the hair root and dead skin cells with it. Normally the wax should be warmed, but some can be applied cold. It can be done at a salon or at home. Waxing makes the area smooth and is long lasting. It lasts for about 3 to 5 weeks. The hair regrowth also looks lighter than it does after other methods of hair removal such as shaving. This can be a painful procedure and you may even get bumps and inflammation after waxing, but the result you get is worth the pain. Professional waxing is also expensive compared to other hair removal methods. Diabetic patients and those under acne treatment should avoid this method. Electrolysis: In this method a professional electrologist would insert a needle into the hair follicle and send an electric current through the hair root to kill it. This gets done over a series of several appointments. It is a long procedure, and even a small area like the upper lip may take a total of 4 to 10 hours, and a larger area such as the bikini line may take 8 to 16 hours. This is a permanent method, but it is expensive and time consuming. The process can be painful, and dry skin, scabs, scarring, and inflammation may result after treatment. Laser: Here a laser would be directed through your skin to the hair follicle and stop growth. Large areas of skin can be treated at the same time. It can last up to 6 months. This method is best suited for light-skinned people having dark hair, as the melanin in the hair absorbs more of the light; thus making treatment more effective. The treatment can be expensive and may cost up to $500 or more. Prescription Treatments: Medicinal creams are available by prescription, such as eflornithine for treating facial hair growth. The cream is to be applied twice a day until the hair becomes softer and lighter. Side effects may include skin irritation and acne. Another method that doctors prescribe is antiandrogen medications to reduce the appearance of unwanted hair. Androgen hormone can be responsible for hair growth in unwanted areas, and antiandrogens can block the androgen production. It's your personal choice whether or not you want to remove your body hair. Hair removal would not affect your health in any way, so you shouldn't feel pressured to remove it if you don't want to. But if you do wish to get rid of unwanted hair, choose a method that would suit you best. Remember that each person is beautiful in his/her own way, so always respect your body. How to Unlock the Power of the Not so Humbe Tea Light

By Justine Van Zyl There are two keys to using tea lights successfully. First, when you think tea lights, think quantity. A single tea light is a poor, lonely thing, pining for its fellows. Second, think containers. Glass or metal in particular completely transform the self-effacing tea light. Put them inside cut-glass wineglasses. Even inexpensive embossed glasses are transformed with a tea light inside. Enhance the effect by grouping glowing glasses on a polished tray- silver for preference, but other colors work equally well. And remember that although they are comparatively tiny, they can burn for four (or even more) hours. Put them in transparent holders. Arranged around a table centerpiece, they will provide lots of light at the table level - but remember to add taller candles to light your guests' faces as well. Or look for colored glass containers. There are plenty designed especially for tea lights; equally, you might spot something you can adapt to achieve a totally unusual effect. What about arranging tea lights in a long shallow container (glass, metal, wood or pottery work equally well) surrounded by decorative objects - stones, shells, balls, even unshelled nuts. You can put tea lights in shallow glass containers and float them in water-filled bowls. If you're dining al fresco, create a centerpiece using florist's foam (either a ring or a block) as a base. Soak the foam in water to soften, drain, and then press the tea lights into the foam, spacing them carefully. Then build up the centerpiece using herbs, berries and flowers. If you're going to use them near food, remember to choose the unscented variety. And there's that wonderful trick of using candles in a brown paper bag that nowadays seems relegated to lighting the way to youthful parties, but is far too good to be wasted on teenagers. Put a little sand in a bag, fold over the top a few times to make a more rigid top, cut some holes (or not, as you please) in the sides, and you have a wonderful way to light a drive, highlight a staircase or line the perimeter of a deck. Tea lights liquefy quickly because they are made of a less refined wax, so make sure you spend a few cents more on getting the right quality, but do throw away any that show signs of smoking. Health Spa Treatments Using Lavender Herbs From Your Own Herb Garden

By Mary Hanna Health spa treatments can be costly. Have you ever considered creating your own home spa by using lavender and other herbs from your own herb garden? After all of the hours you spent planting and tending to your herb plants, reap another benefit by using your herbs to make herbal cosmetics, herbal teas or herbal medicines and by all means as ingredients for a home spa. Some people have spaghetti herb gardens, or salad gardens even headache gardens, consider this your own Spa Herb Garden! For very soft touchable skin use Lavender or Calendula leaves and petals. Bruise the leaves and petals and put them into a glass jar. Pour enough olive oil into the jar to cover the herbs. Set the jar on a sunny window and shake everyday for two to three weeks. Strain the oil through cheese cloth pressing on the solids to remove all essential oils. Reseal the jar and place in a dark place. The herbal oil should last up to one year. This soothing Lavender oil can be applied directly to the skin or used in a bath. Put lavender flowers and leaves into a warm bath and soak. Or put them in a muslin bag which you will hook over the running water while filling the tub. The Lavender will fill your bathroom with a wonderful scent. Since Lavender is known for its calming effect, what better way to relax after a day of gardening than a long soothing bath filled with Lavender? Lavender is a natural anti depressant so place bowls of dried lavender around the house. Or since Lavender is known for its claming effect, boil a large pot of water, throw in the lavender, and place a towel over your head as you bend down over the pot. Inhale in the delightful smell and feel its soothing properties from the steam on your skin. Another lovely way to use Lavender is to sew them into little bags and put them between your pillow and pillow case. The beautiful calming scent will help you sleep. It will relieve stings, chapped lips, cuts and burns. To make you're won spa loofahs plant Luffa aegyptiaea. For a home spa tool grow the plant in full sun in a place where the plant can climb. When you harvest it, soak it in water to soften the brown skin, peel and set out in the sun to dry. Save the seeds for your next years Spa Herb Garden. Now let's make some refreshing teas using herbs from your herbal garden for use in your mini home spa. Most people look at roses as just beautiful blooms, but rose hips have more vitamin C than oranges. The little round balls in the center of the rose is the hips. Sun Protection

By Nitin Jain The skin has a defence mechanism against sun-damage, in the form of melanin. The production of melanin is accelerated on sun-exposure. However, we have seen that this defence is not enough. That is why protection of the skin, with ingredients that block the sun's radiation damage, is so essential. These sun-block agents are incorporated into 'sunscreens'. Avoidance of the sun, specially at midday and in the afternoon, when ultraviolet radiation is at its height, can help to reduce the harmful effects. It is also essential to know that ultraviolet radiation is greater near water bodies, like the seaside and where there is snow. Snow, water and even sand reflect the ultraviolet reays and thus increase their rffect. Exposure to the sun also causes moisture depletion and dries out the skin. Therefore, it is essential to step-up moisturisation, when you have been out of doors for a long time. The use of rehydrant cleansers, which contains aloe vera, can also help to control moisture loss. Aloe vera, like sandalwood, also helps to soothe and heal the skin. When you are swimming in the sea, or in an open-air pool, remember to apply sunscreen before and after your swim. Protect yourself with a parasol whenever you are out in the sun. Remember, you are exposed to ultraviolet radiation even on a cloudy day. Employment and Career Opportunities in Trucking

By Lance Winslow Despite the high oil and gas prices the trucking industry is running at record profits. In fact UPS and FedEx are growing and both announced major acquisitions in the Industry in the neighborhood of over two billion dollars. Unfortunately, the trucking industry cannot get enough drivers to drive all the trucks and haul all the product that needs to get to market. It is estimated that by 2007 there will be a shortage of 145,000 truck drivers. And it is going to be about two more decades and until trucks can drive themselves. Robotic trucks of the future may be more of a necessity than anything else. Many immigrants who are coming over from Russia and Mexico and even the Middle East become truck drivers. Trucking companies are now forced to hire people straight out of prison just to get enough drivers to make it all work. Some trucking companies have only a handful of people in the entire company that don't have felonies on the record. Scared yet? There are employment and career opportunities in trucking now more than ever before. Some say this is a sign of the times and yet many industry analysts are saying that we have a crisis looming that could affect the entire economy and industrial output in the United States of America. Mobile Phones or Cell Phones- When Repairs To Your Mobile Phone Under Warranty Might Not Be Honored

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Lim]Peter Lim Whether we like it or not, as modern day users of high technology, we have all grown very used to the mobile phone or cell phone. The mobile phone is part of our daily range of "must have" tools that we carry along with us in our pockets or in our ladies handbags everywhere we go. After all, we do live in the age of instant communication and the mobile phone is that important tool that allows us to keep in touch with the office, to monitor our investments in stocks and shares, to talk with our loved ones, and to call for help if we are unfortunate enough to have a car breakdown. As someone who traveled often, and as someone who view the use of the mobile phone as absolutely essential to communicate, I spare no efforts to follow the latest developments in mobile phone technology and the newer models for most major brands. Thus, it was during one of my travels to Malaysia that I decided to buy a newer mobile phone which had the blue tooth technology some years ago when it was first released. The established "Sony" with its blue tooth technology, as a newer model of a mobile phone, had a small footprint, a sliding cover that would open to reveal the calling touch pads, was light, and it looked dashing, silvered colored on the casing and just the thing that I needed. Never mind the cost, it was one of the newest models at that time, and there was always a sacrifice in a higher price if ever I wanted newer technology. So I happily paid by credit card and wrapped up the purchase. Within days I was back in Australia and using the mobile phone happily, until just 6 months later, it malfunctioned. Whenever a newer mobile phone ever malfunctioned, and especially during its warranty period, there is a cause for concern. Newer mobile phone technology means a higher price, better technology, more durability, longer battery life and better features, but for this SONY model, there was cause for concern because it was my third mobile phone that I had in use, and it was therefore not constantly in use. Why then had it malfunctioned just after a short 6 months? Checking the warranty card that came with the mobile phone revealed that as long as I could get the mobile phone shipped back to the agent that I purchased it from, I could get it repaired without charges as it was still under warranty. In fact, I could also get service for it as long as I could send it to an authorized Sony Service Center agent within Australia itself, but since I was going to be in Malaysia again, while it was still within the warranty period, I chose to give the distributor who sold the mobile phone to me another visit to get it repaired. The sales agent dutifully noted the particulars of the Sony mobile phone, and said as it was one of the newer mobile phones, he would need to send it off to the authorized service center to repair it, and would give me a call as to the status of the repair. So I could heave a relief as I thought all things were being taken care off. In the end, there was a conspicious absence of a phone call from the agent and getting in touch with them, I was told the mobile phone could not be repaired free of charge even during its warranty period! Now, if you are a mobile phone user, this rings alarm bells...because when is it a warranty for an expensive branded mobile phone is not a warranty? After all, the Sony mobile phone isn't a brand of electronics and communication technology to be taken lightly- it is an established brand! "We have opened up your mobile phone and we find it was mouldy inside. Your warranty is thus voided because of the mould!", the agent repaired, probably reading from the report from the authorized service center. Now, first of all, when I purchased the mobile phone, I was told that it was under warranty of 12 months from date of purchase, and that the warranty was even international. Secondly, the mobile phone was never in use excessively or exposed to water or rain. But while it was used in Australia where the climate was a little cooler than tropical Malaysia, the Sony mobile phone was well known for its good design, and I could hardly believe that all mobile phones would become mouldy because of the cooler climate and weather conditions in mediterranean Australia. There was never a clause that said mould would void the warranty. In the end, I had to fork out a sum of $200 to clean up the mould and to get the mobile phone functioning again some 3 months later, because by the time it was repaired, I was back in Australia and had to get a friend to retrieve it for me. Now, the lesson of this experience is simple - Read the fine print of your warranty that comes with every purchase of your mobile phone.Just because what you buy is an established brand, never ever assume that its design is built to keep out the moisture or that it would not become mouldy inside, not even if it is a Sony. I was told it was standard policy to treat mouldy conditions within the mobile phone as a result of improper use of the mobile phone, rendering any warranty void.
While the mobile phone was a newer model, and I had always considered it an important part of my professional tools, there was never any case of mis-use of the mobile phone that could have allowed water to seep inside the mobile phone. If there was any mould, it would only have been the change of weather from the country of purchase and the country of use. Let my experience be your guide, and pay attention to the fine print of your warranty so that you are sure whether mouldy conditions are covered under the warranty especially if you are going to use a mobile phone purchased overseas where there are different climatic conditions. Avoid buying a lemon when you are shopping for a newer mobile phone. Visit your local Australian and New Zealand mobile phones online store Aussie Mobile Phones Store or http://aussie-mobilephones.reviewadvisor.info for free resources and to view the latest in mobile phones for the Australian and New Zealand region. Used Car Loans: Get Your Dream Car Financed

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alfred_Anderson]Alfred Anderson Owning a car is no more a luxury but in fact it has become a necessity in our daily life. A car, being one of the most widely used mode of conveyance has become a must have for all of us. However buying a car is not so easy primarily due to a steady rise in their prices in the past few years. Every year most of the well-known brands come up with new snazzy car models, with upgraded technologies resulting in faster performance, which often tempts the customers to buy them. Buying a car is a costly affair and utilizing personal finances to finance your dream car may not be the best option as it may lead to sudden financial drain in your bank balance. The ideal way of financing a car purchase is to opt for a car loan, however the ever-increasing price of new cars often leads to high EMI payments that can definitely be a burden. Buying a used car can be an extremely wise decision in such cases when the budget is a primary condition for purchase. The primary objective of buying a car varies from person to person. There are customers who need it for daily use and then there are others who like to possess the latest trendy models that add an extra flair to their overall personality. The second category of buyers does not stick to a single model and often sell them off within a year or two after purchase. Some customers may even sell off their brand new cars due to some other reason as well. These cars are usually available in good condition and customers who are not very obsessive about possessing trendy models can surely opt for these cars. Used cars can be bought at a much cheaper rate resulting to a lower loan amount and an affordable repayment plan. After purchase, new cars depreciate steadily in terms of monetary value whereas in comparison, a used car will depreciate at a lower rate. A New car has higher resale value than an old car and thus a brand new car is always more susceptible to theft. Theft or damage to a new car can increase the amount of liability to a greater extent compared to the increment in liability that might be caused due to loss in an old car. A good used car is free from all the above risks and hence is a much wiser investment. However, before availing a [http://smartcarcredit.com/]Used Car Loan, the customers should be sure about the quality of the car loan. It is better to have a detailed look at the car, check for damages, inspect the engine and even take a test drive. Once you have zeroed down to the car that is perfect for you, just apply for a used car loan and get your purchase financed through a car credit company. Alfred Anderson has rich experience in the field of online brand marketing. His interests includes Internet marketing and research on emerging online business trends. Killer Fly Pattern - The Kissing Leech

By Dave Ouellette Over time, undoubtedly, the Kissing Leech will prove to be one of the most effective trout fly patterns in the best fly fishing lakes in BC. This simple to tie and easy to present killer fly pattern adds a new dimension to your to your BC fly fishing experience. Let me tell you my story. While spending part of a summer in Canada's Yukon Territory a few years ago, I had the opportunity to watch the life cycles of various freshwater insects and invertebrates first hand. Oddly enough, many of the same aquatic life cycles in this northern climate are similar to those found in the fly fishing lakes of southern British Columbia. The only difference would be the time frame in which it occurs. With longer days and a shorter season, the life cycles of the insects appear to be in fast forward. One thing that I had never witnessed before in my neck of the woods (Kamloops, BC) was the mating pattern of the common leech. There was an abundance of leeches in Wellesley Lake and they were somewhat smaller than the leeches that we see here. They seemed to be only about 2-3 centimeters in length (+/-1 inch). While mating, they joined at one end forming a "V" pattern and seemed to swim around for long periods of time, undulating in this formation. It really didn't dawn on me at that time that this would be a potential fly pattern. When I returned home to Kamloops, I was reviewing what I had observed and started tieing a fly pattern that resembled the mating leeches. I had been experimenting with rabbit strip leeches the previous year but I was tying them big and bulky. This pattern could be shorter in general and not as bulky along the body of the hook. I still used rabbit strip with various sized hooks and the results were sensational. Because of the potential marketability of the pattern to the general public, it was uncool to name the fly "the Mating Leech" or just a plain old "f*#%ing Leech", so we decided to smooth out the name to a far more acceptable "Kissing Leech". This pattern is effective throughout the season but particularly early, just after ice off and late in the season, within a month of freeze up. This pattern has resulted in the catching of my first fish each of the last 3 seasons. It can be fished on all different lines (floating, slow sinker, deep sinker, etc) and with various retrieving techniques however I do suggest that your retrieve allows the fly to pulsate. I particularly like fishing parallel to weedbeds to catch the cruisers along the dropoffs. It also does relatively well during the summer doldrums when used with a deep sinking line in the deeper holes of the lake (25'-40' deep). As for the rabbit strip I found that making each arm of the "V" a different colour added to the attractability of the fly and generated more more strikes. My favorite color combination is purple and black. I also usually make the arms the same length however I also had success in varying the length of each arm. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Materials for the Kissing Leech Hook: Mustad 9672 - #6 - #12 Thread: Black - Danville's 210 - FLYMASTER +PLUS+ Body (shaft of hook): black thread, peacock herl, dark flashiboo Body (leech material): rabbit strip - purple, black, dark red, olive green, etc) Rib: normally none however you could try a red, silver, gold or copper thin wire wrap Thorax: peacock herl Tail: usually none or try a short tuft cut from one of rabbit strips Head: small (3/32") black or white metal or glass bead. A gold bead may also suffice Tying Instructions for the Kissing Leech: Slide on your glass white or black bead. Dress the hook with your dark thread and then tie in rib. Keep the body thin. Secure behind the bead head. Wrap the ribbing forward to about 1/8" behind the bead head and secure. Cut your rabbit strip to the desired length. I suggest cutting the leather between 3/4" and 1" long. Make the diagonally so that the leather narrows to a point. Place the first strip along one side of the shaft, inserting the point of the strip into or as close to the bead head as possible. Tie it off with a few tight winds (this is why I suggest the flymaster+ thread) and secure Tie in a couple of strands of peacock herl for the thorax. Do not wrap yet. Place the second rabbit strip on the opposite side of the hook, inserting the pointed tip under the bead if possible. Secure tightly and tie it off. Wrap the peacock herl to finish the head area off and secure behind the bead head. Add head cement. Dave has been fly fishing the BC lakes in the Kootenays, Cariboo / Chilcotin, and hompson-Okanagan for over 30 years. He currently has a website that highlights freshwater fishing in the BC Interior. As an Engineering Tech and Construction Supervisor for Ducks Unlimited Canada during the 1980's and early 1990's, he designed and constructed over 200 wetland segments for DU throughout the Interior, many of which are productive trout lakes today. His travels have taken him to well over 150 lakes in the region. Dave is also a hack at flytying but has managed to produce a few killer fly patterns in his day. Be sure to visit Best-in-British-Columbia.com - Killer Fly Patterns for other patterns and access to some of the best fly fishing lakes in BC. Surviving Infidelity

By Terry Ross Learning about your spouses affair is one of the most life changing events youll ever have to cope with. The initial mental and physical pain can be more than most people feel they can bear. Debbie found that the shock left her feeling completely suicidal, in such an emotional state that she just couldnt see an end to the raging emotions of sheer loathing, humiliation, defeat and despair. She couldnt visualize surviving the infidelity. "After weeks of trying to come to terms with the shock of my husband confessing to having an affair, I tried to face up to the news and move on with my life but I just couldnt get over the feelings of hate, shock, rage, fear and utter betrayal. I really hated my husband, the other woman and myself for what had become of our marriage. I found myself wanting to kill him one minute and trying to understand why he had done it the next. I didnt know what to do or where to turn. I had no idea as to whether I wanted to save my marriage or not but I was totally unprepared for life on my own. I felt so alone, half dead, totally humiliated, defeated and betrayed and found I just couldnt move on without seeking help and learning that there was a way to move forward and get my life and my marriage back on track" Because of the emotional roller coaster infidelity puts couples through, talking about the details in the early stage only reinforces the negative feelings that they already have. It will not help either the cheater or the cheated partner to cope with the situation nor will it help you move forward. The first discussion will always be the most difficult one, when its so easy for things to get totally out of hand. If the marriage is to be saved both partners need to be emotionally prepared, rational and calm. It is unrealistic to expect partners to be able to work together in the early days when neither party is capable of entering into any form of rational discussion. The cheated partner will want immediate answers to why the affair occurred, if they loved the person they were having an affair with, did it mean anything and how long it had been going on. They will want to know why they werent enough, was it the only one and will wonder if they can trust their partner again. They need to take control of these emotions before they should enter into any form of discussion and before they can make any progress towards surviving infidelity or even half way consider trying to save the marriage. Many people go to marriage counselors terrified, not knowing what to do, unable to get the images of their partner in someone elses bed out of their mind, not knowing if their partner still loves them and feeling totally worthless and insecure. They have to get over that initial hurdle before they can move on, start piecing everything together and even consider trying to rebuild the marriage. What is said and done in those early stages is critical to surviving infidelity and will form the foundation of any new relationship which evolves. Most people do not have the skills to work through their problems without getting emotional and cannot get beyond what has happened in the past so cannot look towards the future. It is so easy in the early discussions, when the most positive work towards recovering the relationship needs to be done, to get sucked into battles over what has happened. It is hard to push emotional feelings to one side and calmly discuss such a betrayal. However, after the initial shock and once emotions have calmed down the most critcal thing to do is to talk, listen and try and understand what has happened, why it happened and how to move forward. Only after some kind of understanding have occurred can the cheated partner even consider any kind of foregiveness, but if initial contact is controlled, and approached in the right way, not jumping in with all guns blazing, marriages can and often do survive infidelity and become stronger because of it. That is why spending time learning how to control your emotions and trying to understand the situation from your partners point of view is vital if you want to save your marriage.
It is during this stage that you will find out why the affair happened, if it meant anything and what problems there were in your relationship. It is not until the all the cards have been laid on the table can couples even begin to try to put right what has gone wrong and move on with their lives. As with most marital issues communication and understanding is critical to surviving infidelity. The Miraculous Mystery of Winter

By James Sniechowski Mystery can be fun. By mystery we dont mean that which is difficult, perhaps very difficult, but in due time is explainable. Rather, we mean the deep, rich and beguiling unknown that is a backdrop for this life we all share. Late December into early January is that time when we in the northern hemisphere celebrate the miraculous. The miracle takes a variety of forms. Some celebrate nature's receding into the dark underground to slumber near the root of its own regeneration. Others sing about the birth of a redeemer, the ManGod whose arrival is a marvel that draws even kings to his cradle. Still others feel the need to reflect on the year past to cleanse themselves of wrongdoing and to make amends to those they've wronged. When this time of year is taken seriously, the awesome mystery of life cannot be avoided. There is yet another mystery that is very near. It awaits us in the presence of the one we love. Imagine it, this other person, almost a entire universe in his or her own right, a soul radiance that continues to unfold before our very eyes. How more wonder filled can that be? And the magic in the mystery, which reveals itself when we open to it, when we relax into it, is that suddenly all living things become a miracle, especially those with whom we are most intimate. Give the gift of your full attention and allow yourself to be moved by the miracle of the one you love. You'll find that the lush mystery of simply being alive is poised, waiting to resound through you, through both of you, like a chorus of angels. Judith Sherven and James Sniechowski share the secret of life-long romance. Be sure to get your copy of their Free 1 hour teleseminar "Keeping Romance Alive," and find out how. Six Things to Look For in Your Wedding Favors

By David McCoy Wedding favors are small, thoughtful gifts given to the guests in appreciation for attending the wedding. They can be artfully arranged on a central table or incorporated into each place setting. Ideally, your wedding favors will be appropriate to your wedding theme, a reflection of your unique style, and a treasured keepsake for your guests. All that, without breaking the bank as well! When youre shopping for wedding favors, make sure you ask the following six questions. Can it be personalized? Personalized wedding favors make better reminders of your wedding. Metallic, crystal, glass, or wooden favors can all be engraved with the names of bride and groom, the date of the wedding, and a personal message to the guests. If your wedding favors arent suited for engraving, include a personalized tag. A good wedding favor vendor will personalize tags for you at a nominal cost. Is it practical? The best favors have a practical use. Candles are a popular choice, but theyll only last until the wick is burned out. For a wedding favor your guests are likely to keep and use for some time to come, choose a bottle stopper, ice-cream scoop, picture frame, luggage tag, or anything else that will come in handy day-to-day. Is it unique? Will your wedding favors astonish and delight your guests? Unique wedding favors make your wedding more memorable. Choose not just any candlebut one that looks like a part of your bouquet. Not just any place holderbut one that looks like an ornate miniature chair, or doubles as a picture frame or luggage tag. Get the idea? Does it go with my theme? Themed wedding favors are a stylish and appropriate choice for any wedding. Specific themes such as beach, Asian, and destination weddings are easy to match with themed wedding favors. However, if you dont have a theme-style wedding, there are other ways to match your favors to the occasion. If your wedding will occur near a major holiday, use that for unique wedding favor ideasan inscribed Christmas ornament for December weddings, sparklers for a 4th-of-July wedding, or trick-or-treat goodie bags for Halloween. Or tailor your wedding favors to the seasonsnowflake candles for winter, flower-themed wedding favors for spring, foliage or pumpkins for fall. Is it us? Will your favors make your guests smile and talk about how very you the favors are? The best wedding favors should relate to something personal about the bride and groom. If you love playing golf together, what better favor than a his and hers tee set? If youre both java fans, an inscribed coffee scoop would be ideal. If youre wine aficionados, there are a lot of options, including wine stoppers, bottle openers, and wine-themed charms. Whats the price? This is important, because youll be buying your favors in bulk. The best wedding favor vendors will offer high-quality favors at low prices. Look for extras like free personalization, money-back guarantees, and bulk discounts. Some of the best vendors offer price-matchingtheyll match a lower price offered by a different store. Its tough to find a wedding favor that answers yes to all of the above. Dont worry about checking off every box on the listjust use these questions as ideas to narrow down your search. With luck and a little patience, youre sure to find wedding favors your guests will love as much as you do. David McCoy

Five Tips To Make Adjusting To College Easier

By Chris Stout College is a transition. Its the beginning of a new stage of life, and its challenging. Living away from home for the first time will take some getting used to, but youll settle in sooner than you think. Here are five tips to make adjusting to college a little bit easier: 1. Learn how to cook something - anything! If youre culinarily challenged, you need to find a staple food, and figure out how to prepare it. Grumbles in the tummy need to addressed. You cant just fuel your body with booze and junk food, you need to learn how to prepare healthy, balanced meals. Find a local hippie store and stock up on some all-natural and organic ingredients. Find a local deli and bakery and do the whole European open-sandwich thing. Eat falafels, Chinese food or barbeque in your backyard. Eat balanced meals often, youll need the constant supply of energy. 2. Dont be a hermit, but dont party too hard. You cant just hole up in your room, but sometimes you have to. Make yourself available for social gatherings, shindigs, fiestas and so forth, just be sure that you know when to hit the books. Time management is a critical part of the college experience. 3. Do your work already. Classes will be much less difficult if you keep up with your homework. Do your assignments when youre supposed to, so that you can participate in class discussions and follow your lectures with interest. If youve already introduced yourself to the material, then itll be a whole lot easier to build on your informed foundation. 4. Review your notes after lecture so that you can retain the info that youve just been exposed to. Your goal isnt a grade. Your goal is long-term retention of interesting and useful information. Take award-winning notes and review them right after your lecture. If you just sit and pay attention, youll do just fine, but if you have a written record of your classes, and you review this record constantly, you will remember the info for quite a long time. 5. Keep in touch with the people you love, always. Just because you live away from home doesnt mean you need to sever all ties with your old network of friends and family. Pick up the phone, write an email or make a weekend visit. Dont lose touch with the people you care about, when you go back home, youll be happy that you didnt. Theres never a good excuse for losing contact with someone you care about. The adjustment period exists, but youll be over it before you know it. Learn to cook. Get out and about, but do your work. Take better notes than anyone else, and review them often. If you miss people, call them. The more you focus on taking care of business, youll automatically adjust to your new surroundings. Free Product Samples

By Eddie Tobey Distributing free product samples is an important tool in sales promotion. An actual or trial-sized product is distributed to the consumers in order to provide them an opportunity to experience the product where they would not otherwise get to try it unless they bought it on their own. Free samples are usually distributed during a new product launch or when the company wants to capture increased market share for the product. Samples can be distributed using direct mail, coupons in newspapers and magazines, door-to-door delivery, in-pack sampling, the Internet and in-store sampling. In direct mail sampling, free sample products are directly mailed to homes that are targeted based on geo-demographic characteristics. Newspapers can be used for broad-scale sampling. Door-to-door free product sample delivery saves costs like packaging costs that are incurred when direct mailing is used. It allows considerable targeting and has shorter lead times. In-pack sampling uses the package of some other product to carry the free sample product. Some of the product samples are distributed in high traffic locations like theatres, and shopping malls. In-store shopping is the most frequently used method for distributing free samples. Usually, consumers in a retail shop or a grocery store are provided with free product samples for a trial experience. This free sampling often also leads to increased impulse purchases. Several companies also allow consumers to request free samples using their websites. Usually companies have limited stocks to be distributed as free samples and consumers who would like to request free samples using coupons or the Internet should send in a request as early as possible. Product samples are distributed when the desired impact cannot be produced by advertising alone and the cost of distributing samples is reasonable. There are many challenges faced by the product companies, mostly concerning free samples center around a return on their investment and the proper choice of target customers. Free Samples provides detailed information on Free Samples, Free Sample Resumes, Free Product Samples, Free Sample Cover Letters and more. Free Samples is affiliated with Family Dollar Store. Collectors Of Wildlife Figurines Will Often Be A Reflection Of The Animal They Collect

By Dean Whittingham Wildlife Figurines are being sought after by a large cross section of society and one has to wonder what makes collecting wildlife figurines such a popular past time. It could be assumed that people feel a sense of emptiness when they think of how quickly the habitat of the Earths wildlife is diminishing, or they feel in awe of an animal or birds unique presence in the wild. Either way they feel an attachment and decide to surround themselves with wildlife figurines, art, sculptures, decor and so on. So if this is the case, then how does one choose the animal? Well I believe in most cases they don't, the animal chooses them. It's obvious to me that the material used to make a wildlife figurine does not seem to matter as much as the actual animal itself. When people come to our site searching for wildlife figurines, rarely do they search for the form or material along with the animal, and I think its because people are what they collect. Eagles display authority in the air, and are seen this way, so a collector of eagle figurines may have a deep sense of gratitude towards authority or be an authoritarian themselves. The eagle is also known as the American eagle in North America and so a collector of American eagle figurines may feel a deep sense of patriotism. A Dolphin has intellect and some people will see them this way, along with a sense of playfulness and willingness to swim with people. Collectors of dolphin figurines may themselves be playful or easy to get along with or admire intelligence. Elephants display a strong desire to stay within their groups and have a strong family sense. They also mourn their losses, so a collector of elephant figurines may see family as their biggest priority in life and admire the elephant for doing the same. The animal kingdom and it's constituents display a large variety of characteristics, some unique, some shared, and some beyond civilized human capabilities, yet a collector of wildlife figurines should always be able to connect to something that gives them inspiration, harmony and a sense of self purpose. Lion figurines, Giraffe figurines, Swan figurines, Wolf figurines, Owl and Moose figurines and are some of the other more popular wildlife figurines available at Wild Figurines, but we also sell bear figurines, horse figurines, duck figurines, tiger figurines and so on. The number of available animals, birds and sea creatures is at 66 and growing so there is bound to be an animal to suit everyones inspirational and spiritual needs. Collecting Matchcovers Match Book Covers

By Glyn Farber The first matches were produced by an English chemist named John Walker in the early 1800s. While conducting experiments with a flammable liquid some of the mixture dropped on the floor and flared up. From this he discovered the process of making matches. His matches were boxed and placed on sale in 1827. The first match books were made by Joshua Pusey of Philadelphia in 1889. The earliest know commercial advertising appeared in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Through out the early 1900s colorful match boxes and match books were made containing all sorts of beautiful art work and by the 1930s they were widely collected. In the 1940s and 1950s smoking was very popular and millions and millions of match books were manufactured and hotels, nightclubs and restaurants made match books available to their customers. Even today match books are a popular form of advertising from these same retail establishments. Collectors usually remove the matches from matchbooks and display their collection of matchcovers in albums. Because of the large number of different match book covers available to collectors, some prefer to specialize by type. Others prefer to collect match books from the places they visited. Hotels and restaurants are the most popular by far. However collections of night clubs, bars, railroad lines, airlines, ships, banks, sports, world fairs and political are very popular. I like collecting old matchcovers from my home town. Matchcovers can be classified by size such as 20-strike matchbooks which have 20 matchsticks per book. Larger 30 and 40 strike matchbooks are called billboards. The most popular matchbooks are odd shapes and early matchbooks that are printed not only on the cover but also on the matchsticks. Matchcover collecting is a fun and inexpensive hobby. Once you start, make a habit of picking up one or two matchbooks from every place you visit. As you become obsessed with this fascinating hobby you may want to purchase matchbooks at garage sales, flea markets and antique stores. One of the best places to find match books both new and old is eBay. At eBay you can find one matchbook that may interest you or large lots that can sort through. Plan Your Move: 6-8 Weeks Prior to Your Move

By Jony White Planning your upcoming relocation starts 8 to 6 weeks prior to your move date. This is when you would like to start planning ahead and prepare for the move day. The following guidelines will walk you through the basic preparations that require your attention. Book Your Moving Date with a Moving Company. Choosing the right moving company is a process that takes some time. You will have to compare quotes from different companies and take in consideration price, experience, and reputation. When you request a quote, be sure to provide your relocation representative all the necessary information regarding your move needs: Origin and destination information including: address and all other aspects such as stairs or elevator, truck parking, etc. Packing services and packing supplies. Unpacking services and debris removal Accurate pick up and delivery dates. Storage requirements Any need for vehicle transportation. What Goes and What Stays? Whether you are moving locally or interstate, your moving cost will be determined according to the amount of possessions you are moving with you. Usually for local moves, price is based on an hourly rate while for log distance moves the price is calculated by your possessions weight or volume. This is the right time to start downsizing your move as much as possible. If you know how your new residence looks like, sketch a floor plan and try to fit your belongings in it. Visualize the space and think about furniture placements. Keep in mind that there is quite a difference between the average apartment sizes in different states. After deciding which items you are not taking with you, you will need to choose what to do with these items. Here are some options: One great opportunity to make money is to sell old stuff in a garage sale. It is always a good idea to help others and donate your old belongings to those who need it. Schedule donations pick ups for 2 weeks prior to your move date. Give away stuff to friends and family Dispose of items that cannot be reused. Packing and Packing Supplies If you choose to pack yourself, this is the time to start gathering packing supplies.
You can purchase all these materials directly from your moving company. Most companies will also free deliver packing materials if you choose to buy from them. Be sure to purchase boxes that are specially designed for moving and relocation to prevent any damages to your belongings. Dating Tip for Women: Don't Work Too Hard

By Terry Hernon MacDonald Remember Jerry Hall, the model who married Mick Jagger? Jerry was
famous for making this statement: "My mother said it was simple to keep a man. You must be a maid in the
living room, a cook in the kitchen, and a whore in the bedroom." I don't know about you, but if keeping a man meant all that work, I'd have stayed single. In addition to that pearl of wisdom, Ms. Hall offered this one: "Even
if you have only two seconds, drop everything and give him (oral sex).
That way he won't really want sex with anyone else." Poor Jerry. Too bad her mother didn't tell her that if a man tends to
want sex with "anyone else," he's not great husband material. Sadly, despite all her hard work, Mick Jagger continued to have sex
with other people and fathered a child with another model during his
marriage to Hall. They are now divorced. So much for keeping a man! The point? No guy is worth running yourself ragged for. Instead of
appreciating your efforts, he will likely take you for granted and come to
resent you. Think about it: Do you fall for guys who are at your beck
and call all the time? They're great for helping you move, but you
probably wouldn't marry one. All right. Let's say you decide to move in with a guy. Before you run
out to Bed Bath & Beyond, it's absolutely imperative that you talk to
your boyfriend about sharing household chores. It's not romantic, but
you'll save yourself much misery in the end. And whatever you do, don't
get off on the wrong foot by cooking dinner every night and doing his
laundry. Resist any and all impulses to "wife and mother" the guy. Otherwise,
he'll take you for granted, or even worse, marry you and expect you to be
his servant for the rest of your life. And that's definitely not
romantic! Allow a man to cook for you for a change. Let him do your laundry every
now and then. There's no reason to expect him to be your maid in the
living room, cook in the kitchen, or whore in the bedroom, but every
once in a while it wouldn't hurt. Remember: You have a lot to offer (if you don't believe me, take
out a pen and paper and write down a list of the qualities that make
you special; emphasize things like your sense of
humor, leave off your ability to fold a fitted sheet). Don't let a guy do you any favors. Keep this in mind: You're a great
girl, and he'd be lucky to have you. Terry Hernon MacDonald is the author of "How to Attract and Marry the Man of Your Dreams." Visit her website at http://www.marrysmart.com. An Explanation Of Various Automobile Insurance Related Terms

By Greg Artim Limited Tort, Stacking, Uninsured Motorist Coverage, Deductible, the list goes on and on. These are all terms that are present in your automobile insurance policy, but I have found that many of my clients do not know or understand what these terms mean. This article will attempt to give you a basic understanding of common Automobile Insurance related terms. Limited Tort is the big one these days. Most people have heard of it, but few know what it means. Limited Tort is a selection on your automobile insurance policy that essentially waives your right to sue another driver for pain and suffering if you have been injured in an accident. Hopefully, that caught your attention. By selecting Limited Tort, you are agreeing that you cannot sue another driver for pain and suffering if you are injured in an automobile accident. I have found that many of my clients, or potential clients, have selected the Limited Tort option without a true understanding of what it means. They do so because selecting that option saves them a few dollars on their insurance premium. The savings, I have found, amount to approximately 5 to 10 percent of the total policy premium (that is merely an estimate, contact your agent for exact savings). To some, that is a sizable savings, but to others, at least those who understand what Limited Tort means, that is a risk not worth taking. There are a few exceptions that will allow you to sue a driver if you have selected the Limited Tort option, but those are for another article. Uninsured Motorist Benefits are benefits that cover you if you are injured by another driver who does not have automobile insurance coverage, or if you are struck by a phantom vehicle (a hit and run vehicle). These benefits are meant to provide you with compensation for lost wages and/or pain and suffering that you incur as the result of a vehicle accident. Underinsured Motorist Benefits are benefits that cover you if you are injured by another driver who does not have enough automobile insurance coverage to adequately cover you for your injuries and damages. For instance, in Pennsylvania, the minimum amount of insurance coverage that a driver must carry on his policy is $15,000 for personal injury. If you are involved in an accident with a driver who maintains only the minimum coverage, and you sustain a serious injury, $15,000 will likely not fully compensate you for your injuries. In this instance, you would file a claim for Underinsured Motorist Benefits to attempt to receive additional compensation. The next automobile insurance term that we want to look at is Stacking. Stacking is the combining or adding of either Uninsured Motorist Benefits or Underinsured Motorist Benefits. Stacking means that you can collect from either more than one auto insurance policy that you hold, or that you can collect the limits of your policy for each vehicle that is covered by your policy. In the first instance, if you are injured you by another driver who fails to maintain automobile insurance, you can bring a claim against your Uninsured Motorist coverage on the vehicle that you were operating. If you own a second vehicle, that is insured with another company, you can bring another Uninsured Motorist claim against that policy, if your injuries and/or damages are substantial. Another variation of stacking is where you own more than one vehicle on a policy. If you have selected stacking, you can receive the equivalent of your policy limits for each vehicle that you have on your policy, if your injures warrant that. The final term for today is Deductible. A Deductible is the amount that you have to pay for damages to your car if you are involved in an accident that is your fault. Your insurance company will pay for any damages amounts that exceed the deductible amount that you have chosen. A typical deductible is $500, though other options include $100, $250 and $1,000. Typically, the higher deductible that you choose on your policy, the cheaper your premium is. Greg Artim is an Attorney based in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The Mundane Toilet Brush! - Making the Right Choice

By David Andrew Smith We all have at least one toilet in our house or apartment and many of us have two or more. What should we find close to these toilets? A toilet brush. It is rare to find a toilet in a domestic setting that does not have one nearby. Why do we put so much value in a toilet brush? A toilet brush is a useful accessory and in fact an absolute necessity when it comes to the cleaning of the interior surfaces of the toilet bowl. There we have it, it is a simle, straightforward cleaning accessory, not a decorative item. It is a brush because it is required to scrub away at those resistant stubborn stains. However we live in times where individuals require that all their accessories fit in with each other and look aesthetically pleasing. Toilet brushes and their holders are no exception to this. Consequently they can be found in all manner of shapes, sizes, colours, and materials and the same applies to the holders. You can have wooden, plastic or metal handles. You can find holders that attach to the wall or are free standing. They can be found as scrubbing brushes with long handles to humorous celebrity look-alikes. Novelty toilet brushes abound in the market place. When deciding what toilet brush/holder you should get for your toilet consider its function and relate that to its design. It has a specific function and you have to decide if its design is best suited to carry out that function efficiently. Do not buy on impulse or because it looks good and would fit in decoratively. Let us take a closer look at its function. It is used to scrub away at the dirt and accumulated faecal debris, and when used with the correct cleaning chemical will stop lime scale built up. Lime scale, especially in those areas not so visible will allow dirt to built up because of its roughened surface. Where does all of this collect? Well it can e found any where on the inner surface of the bowl. Faecal matter tends to accumulate on the sides towards the base and below the water line on the whole of the curved inner surface disappearing finally around the bend. This area in particular can become very badly stained. The second and important site for dirt and debris accumulation is under the rim, from where the flush water appears. The brush should have its bristles orientated in such a way that it makes scrubbing under this rim easy. The handle should be firm but not completely rigid. If it is not firm then little pressure can be exerted in the brushing process because the handle simply bends. If it is completely rigid then you will not be able to get to all the surfaces at the base of the bowl. Avoid handles that are screwed on. Invariably in the brushing action these can unscrew and you will be continually screwing them back together. Metal handled ones are frequent offenders here. Do not purchase brushes that have guards on them that also act as lids to the holders. This attachment just gets in the way of correct brushing and will not allow the brush to reach all the parts that are necessary. Do not be unduly swayed by advertising, which indicates that toilet brushes are unhygienic and hot beds of disease causing organisms. If they are used in conjunction with a good toilet cleaner then anything harmful will be killed despite what the brush may look like. Unless of course it has been used to unblock the toilet in which case it becomes caked in large pieces of faecal matter. In these circumstances it is advisable to get rid of the brush and purchase a new one. As they are subjected to daily use their useful life is often short. So why pay a lot of money for a designer brush that you will soon be throwing out anyway. Some of the best brushes are the cheapest at no more than one pound each. At those prices you can afford to chuck them out at the first sign of wear or staining. At 20 you are going to be a little more reluctant to seek a replacement. The cheap simple brushes and holders do nothing to enhance the aesthetics of your toilet but invariably they do not detract from it either. Always think function before looks when buying toilet brushes! David Andrew Smith is the owner of http://wesparkle.co.uk and has worked for many years in the cleaning industry. How Does a Trade Show Work? - Understanding the Four Components

By Julia O'Connor Is a trade show confusing? "It certainly can be," says Julia OConnor, president of Trade Show Training. OConnor says her firm estimates there are more than 175,000 trade shows in the US each year and each show can be dynamically different from another. Whether the show focus is Business-to-Business Marketing, Business-to-Business Sales or Business-to-Consumer, these are the four basic components of every event: 1. There is a Sponsor 2. There is a Manager 3. There are Exhibitors 4. There is an Audience THERE IS A SPONSOR ... This may be a trade association, magazine, show management company or other organization, but there is one party responsible for developing and sponsoring the event. The sponsor takes the financial risk that the event will be successful. You sign the contract with, and pay your money to, the sponsor of the event. The sponsor decides if your company fits the criteria established for the show, including size of your booth and location. Some shows allow you to pay your money and select your booth site. Some shows use a point system with criteria, such as how often you advertise in its magazine, if you're a member of the association, or how many years you have exhibited at this show. Shows may have waiting lists, which means if you sign on and are allowed in, you may have no choice of location. If you have any questions about the show, contact the Sponsor. THERE IS A MANAGER ... Smaller events may be handled internally by staff of the sponsor, or may be contracted out to a specialized firm, generally referred to as Show Management. Large events have a contracted show management firm. Show Management is responsible for the all the details - the day-to-day and hour-by-hour running of the show. In turn, management will sub-contract for components of the show, and will designate official contractors, including unions, for such items as labor, electrical, catering, cleaning, flowers etc. Show Management's responsibility is to collect all the information about the show contractors. The Sponsor, after approval, will send you the Exhibitor's Manual (also called the Exhibitor's Package). The Exhibitors Manual is the most important document you will receive about the show. Read it as soon as you get it, highlight all those items which relate to your booth and sign up before the deadlines. Be certain to keep two (2) copies of all your contracts and payments - one goes with exhibit staff to the show, one stays in your office. Depending on the size of the show, the Exhibitor's Package may be just a couple of pages or a large 3-ring binder. If you have any questions about activity on the show floor, contact Show Management. THERE ARE EXHIBITORS ... Some shows have a very small number of exhibitors; others have thousands. A company decides to exhibit because it has a product or service it wants to put into the marketplace. Exhibiting companies can be big or small, old or new. By exhibiting, a company has an equal opportunity to be considered a serious contender in its industry. The staff selected for a trade show is very important. The Center for Exhibition Industry Research www.CEIR.org - estimates that 85% of the time that a sale is attributed to a trade show, it was because of the staff. Important: Select your staff to work the anticipated audience. Technical products may require not only sales engineers but also a technical expert to discuss details. Staff must know about your products and services. And also, your company's philosophy, credit policies, competitors, R&D, pricing guidelines, new products you can talk about, and those that are proprietary and confidential. A staff person has a major responsibility in representing the company. Your audience expects you to be knowledgeable, but sometimes you'll be asked a question that's not in your area of expertise. It's OK to say, "I don't know." But you will always have to follow it with, "But, I'll find out." Most people don't want to be sold, so it's important to consider yourself an information source. You have to be available to as many people as possible. Speaking with, or at least acknowledging your visitor is the first step in qualifying a prospective client. THERE IS AN AUDIENCE ... These are prospective buyers of products and services who travel to see what is new, and meet with existing or prospective suppliers. In the majority of shows, the audience is made up of people who have authority to buy or those who can influence the decision to buy. An individual in the audience may be called attendee, buyer, conventioneer, prospect, lead, visitor or participant. Companies may send a buying team - employees from different departments or locations - which will evaluate your company from their own perspectives and then meet to compare notes about you and your company. As long as the event has these four components - Sponsor, Manager, Exhibitors, and Audience - Trade Show Training considers it a trade show. The more you know about how trade shows work, then the less confused and the more successful you will be. About the Author: Julia O'Connor - Speaker, Author, Consultant - writes
about practical aspects of trade shows. As president of
Trade Show Training, inc,, now celebrating its 11th

industries to improve their bottom line and marketing

Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy & Being a Millionaire: The Power of Money Beliefs

By Cheryl Hall Kids make money with the same creative genius that they make up stories in fact, given a direction, the belief that powers that super imagination will power their money beliefs. In first grade, I was the one who spoiled it. I told all the kids that there was no such thing as Santa Claus. As a child, I was never told to believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. They were just figments of someones imagination. My family focused instead on the religious aspects of both holidays. Now why there was a Tooth Fairy in our house is still a mystery. I mean, out of the 3, the Tooth Fairy seems to be the most ridiculous. Who really wants your tooth? The idea of somebody sneaking into your bedroom at night and getting all the way to your pillow is actually pretty scary when you think about it. But the money found there in the morning was concrete proof that my faith was founded on reality. I was a believer. However, no one had to talk me into the boogie man who lived in the basement closet though; that was set in stone. There was incontrovertible evidence of his existence, the hairs on the back of my neck standing on edge whenever I would pass by the door, the lump in my throat when I would turn the handle to open that door and reach inside; the lightening speed with which I would grab whatever I had come for, slam the door and run back upstairs. Yup, he was real. I was a believer. Then as years passed, I stopped losing teeth and we moved and cleaned out the closet. It was time for me to grow up. Its a sad day when common sense and logic set in and reality rules. We dont realize it at the time; it just seems that were doing what we were told and growing up. We dont understand until later that the unshakable faith and the magic contained in the power of our belief would carry us so much farther than logic. Read through almost any inspirational or positive thinking program. Pick up any book, attend any seminar, what do you always find? No matter what other hints or advice or success training youll receive, invariably the first step is to believe that you can have it, change it or do it. There is always a call to action which includes a knowing that it is possible, theres a flutter of hope, something that defies logic and yet rings true. Kind of like when you were five and you slipped that first tooth under your pillow. You had been told that money would show up in exchange for that tooth in the morning. Even if you were a know-it-all and had some doubt, you believed enough to try it. Then, when the money was there, you knew it was right all along. There had been the ring of truth, that little possibility that made you think, Could it really happen? Your faith produced the hoped for result. You were a believer. How much easier would success come to us as adults if we always retained that unshakable faith? How much easier would success come to our children if they always retained that unshakable faith? If the expectation that Santa Claus was definitely coming down the chimney was somehow bottled up so that long after you stop believing in Santa (or become Santa), the belief in knowing that what you choose to see in your life will show up, where would that mustard seed of faith take us? Would we have started that business, knowing that we believed that we could do it, so it was possible? Would we have gone ahead and invested in that vacant land that our adult, logical brain called a crazy chance? Would we have met that person, taken that job in another city or gone for that promotion? Rather than working hard at regaining that childish faith, lets work at encouraging our children to retain that faith. Sure, Santa and the Easter Bunny wont last forever, neither thankfully will that monster that lives in the closet. But the power of knowing that something is real and possible and a belief in yourself and your creative power that is the key to success! That is the engine that drives us to the money, to the person of our dreams, to whatever goal were reaching for: the belief that we can get there. Lets give our children the opportunity to take the shortcut directly to what they truly wish to achieve. Encourage and nurture that unshakable faith and watch how far it will take them. If we put half the effort into growing our childs money beliefs as we do squeezing that one last year of faith in Santa, we would watch our kids make money with just as much enthusiasm as they make that Christmas list! Cheryl Hall(http://www.MillionaireKids101.com)has the keys for parents to help their children become financially successful. She has created 3 courses to help children learn how to think about money and start on the road to wealth and independence; Millionaire Kids 101, 201 and Millionaire Masters. Cheryl is a successful real estate investor and has been helping new investors start on their way to financial freedom.
